People ask me all the time what my style is. It’s such an interesting question because most people like more than just one thing. It’s like asking someone what their favorite movie is. That’s just a really hard question. So I started thinking about what people mean when they ask that question and I have rephrased it for them into something interesting:
If you had unlimited money how would you design your home?
If I had unlimited money this is close to what my house would look like. I have always been a fan of the “High-Tech” style of the 1970’s, including people like Richard Rogers, Norman Foster and Michael Hopkins. Especially the Hopkins House (1976). This example plays homage to the High-Tech style through the use of exposed air-ducts and industrial lighting fixtures. But mostly I love the uncluttered minimalist design. I have always wanted a large open space filled with only a few select things. Also, my style wouldn’t be complete without concrete floors. To me, there is just something magical about concrete.
So, here is the challenge for you. What one photograph best represents YOUR style?
Get back to me.
-Eric.

If money were no object I would design a home set into the side of a mountain overlooking the ocean. It would be totally self sufficient, have plenty of natural light and built with renewable materials. Unless you knew it was there, you would not see it.
Haha, sounds awesome. Hopefully I would be one of the people who knew it was there so I could come and visit!
omg. i <3 concrete. and exposed masonry walls. and and old wooden beams. remember that bar we went to in williamsburg? just like that.
