What single photo defines your design style?

People ask me all the time what my style is. It’s such an interesting question because most people like more than just one thing. It’s like asking someone what their favorite movie is. That’s just a really hard question. So I started thinking about what people mean when they ask that question and I have rephrased it for them into something interesting:

If you had unlimited money how would you design your home?

Well here you go:
My Home

If I had unlimited money this is close to what my house would look like. I have always been a fan of the “High-Tech” style of the 1970’s, including people like Richard Rogers, Norman Foster and Michael Hopkins. Especially the Hopkins House (1976). This example plays homage to the High-Tech style through the use of exposed air-ducts and industrial lighting fixtures. But mostly I love the uncluttered minimalist design. I have always wanted a large open space filled with only a few select things. Also, my style wouldn’t be complete without concrete floors. To me, there is just something magical about concrete.

So, here is the challenge for you. What one photograph best represents YOUR style?

Get back to me.
-Eric.
